Round top, roman numerals

I purchased this clock to replace a similarly priced clock purchased 18 years ago, whose dial finally died.
PROS:
1. The size is perfect for a nook in my apartment living room. It is tall but not as deep as the other clock, so it fits well.
2. The dark cherry stain is evenly applied on the wood and MDF sections, so it looks much more expensive than its price and does not clash with more expensive mahogany and cherry pieces in my living room.
3. Easy assembly. Completed in less than 45 minutes by one person.
4. Four levels are provided. Great for balancing this clock on an uneven floor.
CONS
1. The smell from the paint/varnish coating is strong and lingers for some time.
2. The "Westminster chime" is not a chime at all, but a digital "beep" that sounds like the electric sound you hear on shop doors to signal the arrival and departure of customers. The sound is very loud and cannot be adjusted, so I removed the batteries for the chime. If you are looking for a grandfather clock with a genuine chime sound, avoid this item. Try a clock site that provides live samples of the chime sound emitted by the clock.
Were it not for the chime, I would give this clock a higher rating as it is beautiful in its simple design, takes up less space than my previous clock and its quartz movement eliminates the headaches of a key-wound floor clock.
NOTE: Some reviewers have complained that the pendulum knocks against the cabinet as it swings, and that calls to customer service have yielded no effective solution. Customer service staff should know that the decorative "harp" on the pendulum serves as a fulcrum and that its position along the pendulum controls the width of the pendulum's swing. Moving the harp (it slides up and down the pendulum's neck) should eliminate the knocking. Instructions regarding the pendulum fulcrum adjustment should be printed in the instruction manual..
